Los Angeles has a rich ecosystem of technology and data science talent. In this talk, we’ll walk through how 88 cities partner with these communities to achieve greater impact. Through two innovative programs — Data Angels, targeted at professional data scientists who give back to the community, and the Data Science Federation, focused on college students — the City of Los Angeles has demonstrated what can be accomplished by connecting department data projects with these communities. This presentation will focus on lessons learned, and how other cities can replicate such partnerships.
